Nietzsche

I take back what I said about Nietzsche, hackneyed and uninspiring.

I still don't like all that he wrote. What a harsh and unhappy "free spirit" he seemed to be. Ach!!

Where I wonder if there is an Absolute truth; he seems to know it, and others' have made his wrtiings into bible studies.

He is vastly misogynistic. In this passage: "Will free spirits live with women? In general, I believe that, as the true-thinking, truth-speaking men of the present, they must, like the prophetic birds of ancient times, prefer to fly alone."

There are some pieces that I could relate to, but if he has such a large error in his logic in one place, then it stands to reason that I am better off not reading the rest.

All pholosophers have holes in their logic in places. The question is whether they get you to think, and challenge the thoughts of others (including them)

The mind cannot help but think anyway. It is cleverly churning out ideas and thoughts, images and impressions all the time.

Sometimes It lies. It messes with you in ways to keep you mired in maya; feeling guilty, wrong for something, lazy, or any other process that keeps one living a less-than life.

Eckhart Tolle wrote "consciousness needs no thought." To be or not to be, whether you think you are or not, you still are. I know I AM. The rest is babble.

I do agree with you - that it served it's purpose, causing me to think, or react. You've helped me look at Nietzsche in a new light.
